My Success Story!

Post by Admin on Wed Jul 13, 2016 11:42 am

A Success Story is about a person called Michael living in London where he is a social outcast and hope that people would remember him and not to be forgotten. His fortune would change one day where he is given an opportunity to put on a show on the theatre to finally put a name on himself. Will the show succeed, or will it flop you can find out by watching the show unfold where it will make you laugh and dazzle like no tomorrow.

Prologue

Michael (Ryan)

(Comes on stage and looks at the crowd with his tuxedo on and has a smile on his face)

Welcome everyone in the audience tonight where I am pleased to tell you my success story on how I have become what I am today.

(Giggles where he just can’t contain his excitement)

I am very proud of what I have done where I am excited to tell you how I got here.

(Looks at his watch and notices the time)

I better start the story so that I don’t drag on.

(The lights dim where dramatic music is being played)

This story starts off at a reunion party with my many friends at high school 10 years ago where it’s hard to believe I am that old with my looks where I will take you there.

High School Reunion

(The scene is set with a table of punch where there are 3 people talking with each other and Michael is there sitting in a lonely chair all by himself)

George (Marcus)

How have you been friends where I had a wonderful 5 years.

Brian (Alex)

Same, I am a scientist working on finding a cure for cancer.

Max (Tomas)

Well, you may have seen me on the TV where I am a news reporter.

George (Marcus)

And I am a dentist where I get rid of plaque on teeth’s.

Brian (Alex)

We have all been successful in life where this is amazing.

Max (Tomas)

I know and that we will remain friends where we have each other’s back.

George (Marcus)

And nothing is going to stop us where you both have been amazing.

(While the 3 friends are talking among each other, at the other end of the room is Michael who is sitting by himself and drinking till the party comes to an end)

Michael (Ryan)

Well, looks like I am all alone at this reunion where no one is willing to talk to me.

(Michael sighs while the 3 friends continue to chat among themselves)

I know that I am still unemployed while I still search for a job, but that doesn’t mean that I have to be invisible to them. They were my friends at high school and we started to drift apart ever since they had successful jobs while I am at rock bottom.

(Michael looks at his watch while he waits to see if they would ever chat with him)

I wish that they can acknowledge me where that is an easy task to do, but they don’t where I am starting to feel blue.

Obscured – Song 1

Michael (Ryan) (sings)

What does it take round here to be noticed.
I tried to talk, but they won’t listen.
Why is this happening to me.
Even though I have my own life to speak about.
I guess that I, am, just.

Obscured.
That’s right just, obscured.
No one can see me.
And they just all walk by me.
Like I am not there at all.

When we were friends in school.
I just fit in, like I belong there.
But now I am a nobody.
Just a scrape of gum that’s been left on the floor.
But you know, what, I, am.

Obscured.
That’s right just, obscured.
No one can see me.
And they just all walk by me.
Like I am not there at all.
They would, never, even, know.
That I am here.

(During the song sequence, there is the just limelight on Michael with the rest of the set in silence and that a tear falls at the end of the song)

Michael (Ryan) (Spoken)

I might as well leave where they won’t notice that I’m gone.

The Park

(The scene changes to a park with a path and a bench being in this while Michael walking through it)

Michael (Ryan)

That reunion party was a shambles where nobody noticed me and I shouldn’t have gone to it where it felt like a big waste of time.

(Michael sits on the bench)

Michael (Ryan)

I still can’t believe that not one person talked to me where that is so rude to do. I just can’t stand the many people there always chatting about how well they are doing in their life where is it really necessary to say it out loud.
But no, they just kept talking and won’t shut up!

Don’t Put the Foot Down on Me – Song 2

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

Why can’t they just zip their mouths close.
Even with the sun that’s shining today.
Don’t I get respect with what I achieved.
You can’t undo what’s happened.
So don’t put the foot down on me.

I’m flattered with what you have said today.
But if someone takes a spill it’s me and not you.
Just try to ignore me right now.
You can’t undo what’s happened.
So don’t put the foot down on me.

Someday I will make it.
Someday I will waste it.
But I have done so much more than you have.
Ooh I can taste it, taste that success life.
And no one will stop me.

One day I will be the famous one.
That everyone will be talking about.
But you won’t be invited because.
You can’t undo what’s happened.
So don’t put the foot down on me.

I will make it someday.
Watch out for this space okay.
I’m tired of people ignoring me.
So you better be watching me.
High on the tower I’ll be.
We have one life that I’m not going to waste it.
So don’t put the foot down on me.

(During the song sequence, Michael leaps out of the bench and shows anger in his face as he lets it out here)

That would teach them a lesson if I became famous where they would get to notice me. But that won’t happen in a million years where it won’t fall from the sky.

(Just at that moment a poster fell from the sky and lands in Michael’s hand)

What were the odds of that happening where this must be a sign. This is a poster that says that you can rent out a theatre for the night.
Seems interesting.

It also says that there would be critics watching the performance and that this could be your chance to fame.

(At that moment, Michael had an idea in his head that this could get him famous)

Wait a second, this might work where I have enough money to make this work and I would be able to put something on for the audience that are watching. Yes, it will work where I can’t wait to show my ‘friends’ what I can do where they will never believe it.

What there is to come – Song 3

Michael (Ryan) (sings)

If they could see what there is to come
Those former friends of mine.
I’m standing on my own.
In a mansion of mine.
I will be having servants at my every will.
What you would be willing to be in my place.
Where I will have so many rooms that you will lose count.
I will be crazy to say that this could be mine.
But this is what there is to come.

(Michael falls on the floor laughing while holding the poster)

If they could see what there is to come.
I will be a major star.
I would be signing autographs until my hand aches.
This is just what is going to happen.
Where I am even going to be on the walk of fame.
Just to think that I was hopeless at one point in my life.
Then being famous has sprung me into the spotlight.
This is going to be my chance.
But this is what there is to come.

(There is a dance break which Michael takes part with a stick found on a stage where Marcus, Tomas and Alex come on as the 3 friends with Michael dancing around)

What there is to come.
What there is to come.
But this is what there is to come.

(The song sequence would feature Michael using the whole set to dance along and even uses a stick to dance with)

Library

(The scene changes to a library which have a book shelf of books to read)
Michael (Ryan)

Here I am at the Library where this will bound to have stuff to do with theatres so that I can put on a show.

(Michael looks for the theatre section in the book shelf)

Here it is where let’s see what kind of shows that I can do. Drama sounds so boring, comedy just doesn’t make sense to me and Shakespeare looks like torture to me. Wait, what is this where this book is about musicals and I must know what they are.

(Michael shows a bewildered face to the audience)

This shows that I don’t really go out that much. It appears to be a play where the dialogue stops and the plot is conveyed through song which is very odd. And an actor starts singing out of nowhere which is getting quite stupid.

Musicals are Spectacular – Song 4

(The song starts as Michael is holding the book in his hand while standing up)

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

This is the weirdest thing that I have ever heard.
You start to sing out of nowhere, now that is odd.
How should the audience follow this along.
But they think that something has gone wrong.

(Michael looks through the book for the answers)

Because musicals are spectacular.
That’s right spectacular.
They give the people what they want.
They have song and dance.
And most end in a romance.
They have bright lights, catchy tunes and a talented chorus.
This is why musicals are spectacular.

Michael (Ryan) (Spoken)

This book is answering my questions, but I am still not convinced by these musicals where I got to read more about it to understand it more.

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

Musicals can vary with ease.
You could laugh, you could cry.
There is even some that act like plays.
You can reach the heights and defy gravity.
And Alexander Hamilton can even rap.

This is why musicals are spectacular.
I’m down with saying its spectacular.
They give the people what they want.
You would be amazed with the scene.
And tunes you can’t get out of your head.
Where you get standing ovations every night.
This is why musicals are spectacular.

Michael (Ryan) (Spoken)

Wait, there is a best part to this where I have to see what this is.

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

Your body will move with the beat.
And your feet can’t help to step along.
Your hips will shift and you can’t help to tap.

Michael puts down the book and starts tap dancing while Alex, Tomas and Alex come in as the chorus to tap along)

Chorus (Sings)
Musicals are spectacular

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

They have showers on stage.
And 11 o’ clock numbers.

Chorus (Sings)

Musicals are spectacular

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

The one thing about musicals.
That you have to know.
Is that bigger is better.

(The different sets come out bigger than the rest)

ALL (Sings)

Musicals are spectacular
Of course they are spectacular.
They give the people what they want.
You can’t help to sing along.
They have outrageous clothes.
With some jazz hands to amp up the act.
This is why musicals are spectacular.

(Everyone joins in one line and kicking in unison where the fireworks would go off and the song would end in a bang)

Michael (Ryan) (Spoken)

That’s right, I am going to do a musical and no one is going to stop me.

Theatre

(This is using the actually Broadway theatre to show the performance where Michael is going to give an opening speech on the musical with the curtains down)

Michael (Ryan)

Welcome everyone to my premiere of the musical that I have set up for everyone where I am getting excited to show it to you all.

(Michael starts to jump up and down with the excitement of this musical)

This would be amazing and I will like to present to you Oysters Ahoy!

Oysters Ahoy! – Song 5

(Michael leaves the stage while the curtain opens revealing Marcus, Tomas and Alex in Oysters costume performing a song and dance number as the chorus)

Chorus (Sings)

Oysters, Oysters, Oysters.
That's who I want to be.

Chorus #1 (Marcus) (Sings)

Oysters have colourless blood.

Chorus #2 (Tomas) (Sings)

Oysters have a three chambered heart.

Chorus #3 (Alex) (Sings)

Being an Oyster can give you a chance.

Chorus (Sings)

To be a boy and a girl.

(All of the chorus winks at the end of that line)

Chorus #1 (Marcus) (Sings)

Oysters are crushed by the Chinese. (eek)

Chorus #2 (Tomas) (Sings)

Oysters are eaten around the world. (aah)

Chorus #3 (Alex) (Sings)

Being an Oyster is not a bad thing.

Chorus (Sings)

When you can give someone food poisoning.

(The chorus gives a thumbs up at the end of that line)

Chorus (Sings)

Schlip! Schlap!

Chorus #1 (Marcus) (Sings)

We drink water every day.

Chorus (Sings)

Schlip! Schlap!

Chorus #2 (Tomas) (Sings)

That’s 50 gallons anyway.

Chorus (Sings)

Schlip! Schlap!

Chorus #3 (Alex) (Sings)

You simply can't go wrong.

Chorus (Sings)

Unless you get caught in a net

(The chorus puts their hand on their mouth in shock)

Oysters, Oysters, Oysters.
That's who I want to be.
But they release a million eggs.
Oysters, Oysters, Oysters.
That’s who I want to be.

(The chorus exit the stage while Michael comes on dress as an oyster on his own)

Michael (Ryan) (Spoken)

There is something that as an Oyster, I would always like to do

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

When I wake up everyday.
Which I would always do.
I would always dream of Oysters Ahoy.
'Cause I wake up doing the same old things.
And I’m fed up of it all.
So I would always dream of Oysters Ahoy.

(The chorus comes back on for this performance with a sailboat)

If we're going to sail away.
You better use your own shell.
'Cause you want to float up way up high.

Chorus (Sings)

Way up high.

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

This would be our only chance.
To do something better with our lives.
So that we can set sail Oysters Ahoy.

Oysters Ahoy.

Chorus (Sings)

Oysters Ahoy.

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

Oysters Ahoy.

Chorus (Sings)

Oysters Ahoy.

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

We are going to sail the seas.

Chorus (Sings)

Sail the seas.

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

There would be adventures along the way.

And this is something I can’t refuse.

So that we can set sail.

ALL (Sings)

Oysters Ahoy.

(The chorus is on the sailboat which moves off the stage while Michael is alone on the stage)

Michael (Ryan) (Spoken)

But you know, we have a good life as an Oyster.

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

There was a light at the end of the ocean.
There was a light at the end of the ocean.
We will survive and continue to grow.
There was a light at the end of the ocean.
There was a light at the end of the ocean.
So let the water fill - goodbye to algae.
At the end of the ocean there's a light.

(The chorus comes back on where everyone sings together)

ALL (Sings)

There was a light at the end of the ocean.
There was a light at the end of the ocean.
God has put us here to clean.
There was a light at the end of the ocean.
There was a light at the end of the ocean.
We see the place that started it all.
At the end of the ocean there's a light.

(The performance finishes with glitter being fallen to the stage with the audience being confused about the show and are not even standing up of which Michael doesn’t notice)

Michael (Ryan) (Spoken)

Thank you very much where I am thankful for this performance that I have done myself. You will see me again where I have just started and my fame starts here.

Newspaper Stand

(The scene is changed with a newspaper stand and Michael is waiting impatiently for the critic’s response of his show)
Michael (Ryan)

Come on, come on where you can open up this stand much quicker.

Newspaper Guy (Marcus)

Hold your horses where it is not opening time.

(The clock then changes to opening time where the newspaper stand is open)

Michael (Ryan)

Here’s the money where I got to have this newspaper.

Newspaper Guy (Marcus)

I never seen someone that excited about a newspaper before.

Michael (Ryan)

I’m so confident that it would be fantastic and that they will love it where I can’t wait to see their five star reviews. Okay, here is the reviews where this one look can change my life.

(Michael’s facial expression starts being happy, then it comes to anger when getting to the review section)

WHAT!!! These critics are stupid where they all have given my musical one star. I can’t believe this and they don’t know when a good show hits them in their face. I will show them what a good show this truly was.

The Show is a Masterpiece – Song 6

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

What is wrong with them.
Have they been hit in the head.
The critics gave a "one" on my performance.
They said, "This is a show,
But it was just so bad."
I could have told them.
The show is a masterpiece.

Judi Dench.
What a wench.
Helena Bonham Carter.
What a tarter.
Simon Cowell
Well, why are telling me?
And that is why they are wrong.
The show is a masterpiece.

Michael (Ryan) (Spoken)

That will teach those critics on who is the boss where I know what makes a good performance where they know nothing about the show I did.

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

Just like a busy fly.
Each critic writes new reviews.
They start to lose track.
On what show is good.
They may have lost their sight.
And don’t know what is right.
This shows that.
The show is a masterpiece.

Michael (Ryan) (Spoken)

I can take the piss out of the critics and nobody will care about it where they are a bunch of losers where they are not representing the people where they aren’t even normal.

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

It’s like a guarantee.
Each brand new insult.
Will help me to feel so much better.
Where it’s going to be a whole lot brighter.
You critics are hated everywhere.
And ruined so many lives.
This is why.
The show is a masterpiece yeah.

(The song takes place near the newspaper stand with Michael singing and dancing in front of the newspaper guy)

Newspaper Guy (Marcus)

Well that’s 3 minutes of my life I’m not getting back.

Home

(The scene changes to a room which features a bed where Michael is sitting on it after reading the reviews)

Michael (Ryan)

My show was fantastic where those critics know nothing of what makes a good performance. But they are professional critics where they saw loads of different shows. Maybe the critics might be right after all.

(Michael shows shock in his face as he is starting to realise that his show might not be the masterpiece he thought he was)

No, what am I saying where they don’t know what the audience thinks. But the audience members didn’t felt like clapping where I just remembered that no one clapped during my show. Heck half the theatre was empty when the show has come to an end. Maybe it was my fault that this happened where I was not prepared at all.

(Michael starts to stand up as he admit what has really happened with the show where there is sadness showing in his face)

I should have done more research and made my story better where it was hard to follow. But you know, this was a start where I am not giving up after this performance. I will continue to shine and one day, it will finally happen. I will never give up on my dreams where success don’t happen overnight and I will work hard to get there where this is who I am destined to be.

I’ll never give up – Song 7

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

Yes, come take a look.
See what I’m worth.
And just, fall from the limelight.
This is my life.
And there is only one of that.
My life which no one will take from me.
You can slaughter as you like.
And cause me to feel blue.
But I’ll never give up.

I’ll never give up.
I will try harder.
And listen to what you have to say.
Yes, I can put the foot down.
Where you can’t say what I couldn’t do.
I will bang my own drums.
Where nothing will stop.
I will keep on trying until it happens.
Why not, well you’ll see what I can learn from this.
You can slaughter as you like.
And cause me to feel blue.
But I’ll never give up.

I’ll never give up.
I will do my best.
To get that ovation.
I can be my own man.
Where determination is the key to success.
I will show everyone that I can do this.
And that I will try harder than the last time.
You can slaughter as you like.
And cause me to feel blue.
But I’ll never give up.

(The song sequence has the lights dim where Michael is singing alone and when the song ends, the stage would go dark)

Epilogue

(The next scene is 10 years later where Michael has finished telling his success story and this is going to signal the end of the show)

Michael (Ryan)

That is the end of the story where it wasn’t really a successful one. But this has helped me to never give up on my dream and I eventually managed to pull off a successful production that has won awards and have leaped myself into fame. So the lesson here is, continue your dream where you should never give up on it and one day, you could end up like me.

(Michael smiles as he tries to encourage the audience to never give up on your dreams)

You know what, let’s have one more song to end this show where I would go out with a bang, hit it.

You Can Do It – Song 8

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

Once I was a hopeless nobody.
I just didn’t get noticed while they stood next to me.
Then my life stated to change, with the poster from the sky.
That was the start of my successful life.

(The chorus which is Marcus, Tomas and Alex comes out and starts to sing and dance with Michael)

Chorus (Sings)

You can do it.
No one believed in you.
The critics gave you a slaughtering.
Then you never gave up and worked harder.
And that is how you became what you are today.

You can hit the top.
If you try your best.
Never give up.
You can hit the top.
Even if you felt like giving up.
You can hit the top.
You can do it.
You can do it.
You can do it.

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

My life began after that first show.
Where I can be who I want to be.
You can still do it, even if you want to stop.
Where it was an easy road to get to the top.

Michael (Ryan) (Spoken)

Wait a second, stop the music. I should admit that it wasn’t that much of an easy road to get to where I am today. I mean I had to do 10 different productions to finally make it where that took 10 years. So, it could take a while and that is what determination can do. Carry on.

Michael (Ryan) (Spoken)
It’s the end of the show here where I am so glad that you are here to witness it. I hope that this can inspire you to be who you want to be in life. Me and the chorus will give you some life lessons on how you can be a success in life.

Chorus #1 (Marcus) (Sings)

Let no one stop you.

Chorus #2 (Tomas) (Sings)

Be who you are.

Chorus #3 (Alex) (Sings)

Being determined to make it happen.

Michael (Ryan) (Sings)

And never giving up until you reach the top.

ALL (Sings)

You can do it.
No one believed in you.
The critics gave you a slaughtering.
Then you never gave up and worked harder.
And that is how you became what you are today.

You can hit the top.
If you try your best.
Never give up.
You can hit the top.
Even if you felt like giving up.
You can hit the top.
You can do it.
You can do it.
You can do it.

(The song sequence has the chorus and Michael dancing and singing together where the song ends with sparkles being used to end in a bang)
